It takes a village to put on the Hilton Apple Fest

It takes a village to put on an event like the Hilton Apple Fest. Just ask Joe Lee, Mayor of the Village of Hilton.
It takes the support of community organizations like the Rotary, Lions Club, Knights of Columbus, Girl Scouts and many other organizations.
“The Apple Fest is the one time a year when each of these groups can get a piece of the pie and raise money for their group,” Lee explained.  “If they are not selling food at a booth, these groups are working to help make the event a success like parking cars, setting up areas, clean-up crew and so much more.”
The Apple Fest is important to Hilton and Parma in so many ways; this annual event draws over 70,000 people to this growing area located on the shores of Lake Ontario.
“The Apple Fest gives us an opportunity to show off all the amenities the village has to offer, like our top-notch schools, along with the local businesses and merchants that support our community especially during the Apple Fest,” Lee said.
Lee spoke about how he, like so many others, volunteer for this two-day event and he extended an invitation to the community.
“I’ve been involved for over 15 years.  I’ve served on the Apple Fest Board, and served as chairperson.  It’s all about families spending time together. I love lending a hand and watching everyone taking part in the fun,” Lee said. “Come on out to Hilton, enjoy the weekend at the Apple Fest and celebrate the harvest.”
Hilton resident Cathy Carmestro has served on the Apple Fest Board for four years and has volunteered for over 10 years in other ways at the Apple Fest.  Like Lee and all the other community volunteers, she enjoys serving her community for many reasons.
“I enjoy giving back, it’s fun! The Apple Fest is a home-town event that has a country atmosphere. It’s all about enjoying family and friends and laughter,” Carmestro said.
