Local bakery donates $1,000 to fight Breast Cancer

A Bakery Creation, 9048 Union Street, Scottsville, 889-4576, held its 3rd Annual Cupcakes 4 Cancer drive. More than 600 cupcakes were baked, decorated and sold on October 26 and 27. Proceeds were donated to EWBC (Elizabeth Wende Breast Care, LLC), a Rochester Area Community Foundation member.

“We are very thankful to all the small businesses in the surrounding communities who donated items and gift certificates to give away for door prizes. From Justice Flower Shop in Hilton, Performing Hair in Spencerport, to all the shops in Caledonia and Scottsville. A very special thank you to our local Buster’s Market for selling dozens of cupcakes and to each of our employees who donated handmade items,” said bakery owner Gladys Luce.

“Many of our customers are or have family members who are survivors. With tearful eyes they thanked us for doing the cupcake drive and hope someday a cure for Breast Cancer will be found. I can not do the walks or runs for Funding the Cure,” said Luce, “but I sure can make a great cupcake. Thank you to everyone.”
