Bishop Mark Webb of the Upper New York Conference of the United Methodist Church has appointed Reverend Andy M. Anderson to be the pastor at both Adams Basin United Methodist Church and Spencerport United Methodist Church. The appointment began July 1.
Pastor Andy was born in the twin island country of Trinidad and Tobago in the Caribbean Sea. He was baptized there and became a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Tobago. He credits his family for encouraging and nurturing him along his faith journey by providing him with several positive role models for serving others and showing him how living the life of discipleship was a joy and source of their being.
Answering his call to the ministry, he attended the United Theological Seminary in Ohio where he graduated with a Master of Divinity Degree. Prior to coming to the Rochester area he served Franklin Forks UMC in the Susquehanna Annual Conference. Most recently he has served Seneca UMC in Irondequoit since 2011. Rev. Anderson’s wife, Nola, is an ordained Elder who currently pastors at both West Avenue UMC and Grace UMC in Rochester. They have an eight year old son, Asriel, and reside in Rochester.
As a result of the two congregations coming together under Andy’s pastorship, worship start times needed to be changed for both churches. The worship service starts at 9 a.m. at Adams Basin UMC, and at 10:30 a.m. at Spencerport UMC. These new worship start times enable Pastor Andy to interact with each congregation after every Sunday worship service. Both congregations hope that these new start times will allow everyone to find a convenient time to attend Sunday morning worship service. A welcoming luncheon will be held for Pastor Andy and his family at the Spencerport church on Sunday, August 31 immediately following the worship service.
Adams Basin UMC is located at 4292 Canal Road in Spencerport. Spencerport UMC is located at 30 Amity Street in downtown Spencerport.
