Winter Fun

Flavin oneWhen Spencerport native Thayne Conrad and his wife, Eve, planned a winter visit to Thayne’s mother and step dad, Barbara and Michael Flavin of Coleman Avenue, Spencerport, he hoped there would be snow for winter fun for everyone.

Arriving February 12 from Atlanta, Georgia, Thayne and Eve and their children, Grace and Hayden, were greeted by the mid-February snow machine pumping a foot or more of snow and near zero temperatures – they soon found out there was plenty of winter weather to be experienced. After some runs at the Northampton ski hill, Hayden and his cousin, Chase, from Pittsford (above), make their plan to use the building aspects of mounds of snow in the Flavins’ front yard to construct a tunnel from here to there.

Flavin twoDuring their stay, the elder Conrads enjoyed a Valentine’s weekend visit to a B&B in the Finger Lakes and everyone took in an Amerks game. When the thermometer plummeted to zero February 15 and the wind chill was recorded at -25 degrees, the family turned to other area activities on their list of must-do’s when they visit western New York – such as shopping at the Book Centre and a stop at the House of Guitars and ordering a favorite summertime-tested pizza variety from a Spencerport village shop.
