Karen and Darrin Zyra receive club banner from Rotary president Cindy Blair. The two presented a slide program on sledge (or sled) hockey, developed in Sweden for disabled athletes in the 1960s. It is a paraolympic sport. The Zyras are working to develop a program in the Rochester area where eventually teams of different age levels would compete.
At this beginning stage, everyone including some able bodied folks, are enjoying the game. Using modified sticks and sleds, players are quite agile and speedy.
