“Bless Brockport” schedules events for an eighth year

Christ Community Church will host their eighth annual “Bless Brockport” event August 2 through 9.

There will be a canned food drive during the week in local neighborhoods as well as a collection location on Sunday, August 2 from 9 to 10 a.m. at Christ Community Church, 36 Coleman Creek Road, Brockport. All cans collected will be used in the CANstruction project during the Brockport Arts Festival, and then will be donated to the Brockport Food Shelf.

Bring your children to Vacation Bible School outside at Corbett Park. This is for incoming K through 6 grade children, Monday through Thursday, 6:30 to 8 p.m. There will be games, songs, snacks, crafts, Bible lessons and prizes. Free with no registration required.

Don’t be surprised if someone pays for your meal at one of Brockport’s local eateries. Keep a look out for PAID4U cards.

The week will end with a community picnic August 9 from noon to 4 p.m. at Christ Community Church. Games, sprinklers, a bounce house, cotton candy, and so much more. Best of all … free food. Paper products, hot dogs, buns, side dishes and drinks will be provided. All you need to bring is a lawn chair.

Think you have the best apple pie around? If so, you may win the grand prize for the ultimate Apple Pie contest. Bring your pie to the picnic and sign-up to enter. Several prizes will be available for other competitions – including tire rolling, 3-legged race, water balloon toss, and Ducks Ahoy.
