Foodlink Mobile Pantry comes to Hilton

The 2015 Summer Foodlink Mobile Pantry will arrive in Hilton on August 8 at the Hilton DPW Garage (20 Henry Street).  The Foodlink Mobile Pantry is a market on wheels, filled with essential, nutritious food items, that travels to locations to serve rural and under-served areas.

Everyone, 18 years of age and older, will receive service on a first come, first served basis – regardless of income or residency. Vehicles should line up on Old Hojack Lane and proceed through the DPW garage for food distribution. Food will be dispersed from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until food items are gone), with a limit of one order per household. Accommodations are available for those who do not have a vehicle and would like to walk through the site. Those who can benefit by an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables, bakery items, and non-perishable grocery items are invited. The Foodlink Mobile Pantry carries perishable items that change daily depending on donations to Foodlink.

Volunteers will be available to load the food into cars. To collect food for someone else – come during open hours (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. and Thursday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m.) to the Hilton Food Shelf, 59 Henry Street, Room 1B before the distribution date, for the pre-approved paperwork.

A representative from the Nutrition Outreach & Education Program of the Legal Assistance of Western New York, Inc. can answer any questions about SNAP (formerly known as food stamps). Information about health care from a Fidelis Health Care representative and information about the Hilton Parma Emergency Food Shelf will also be presented.

For information, call the Hilton Emergency Food Shelf at 234-2090 (before August 8).
