Speaker comes to CHS to share story of 1967 Six Day War

On Wednesday, May 4 at 7 p.m., the Clarkson Historical Society will host CHS member and Clarkson resident, Rosa (Rosie) La Sorte Rich, who will chronicle her four years spent in Beirut, Lebanon. (Note the  Date: previous notices sent to the Suburban News and Hamlin Clarkson Herald stated the date as Monday, May 2, which was incorrect).

She will discuss challenges she faced while establishing the first Health and Physical Education Program for Women at the American University of Beirut. During the 1967 Six Day Arab/Israeli War, Rosie was the only female on the Committee to plan the successful 24-hour evacuation of the 5,000 Americans living in Beirut.

Her book, Crossing Boundaries – Beirut and Beyond will unfortunately not be for sale, but one can search through local libraries and Amazon.com. Also, the present political situation in the Middle East will not be discussed.

This program will take place at the Clarkson Justice Court, 3655 Lake Road, due to the large anticipated crowd.
