Lifespan offers A Matter of Balance for seniors

Concerns about falling? Join A Matter of Balance at the Ogden Senior Center on Mondays, July 11 through August 29, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. The eight-session workshop series is available for older adults who are concerned about falls; have sustained a fall; and are interested in improving balance and strength.

•Session 1 – Fear of falling; Outcomes linked to falls; Decreasing risk of falls.
•Session 2 – Fall related survey; Recognize unhelpful thoughts and effects they have.
•Session 3 – Cost of activity and benefits of exercise on health; Begin exercises.
•Session 4 – Important physical risks for falls; Assertive behavior and fall prevention.
•Session 5 – Individualized exercise program; Shift to self-motivating thoughts.
•Session 6 – No Fall-ty habits; Home safety checklist; Medications.
•Session 7 – Recognize fall hazards; How to get up after a fall; Medical guest speaker.
•Session 8 – Locating and using resources; Eliminating risk-taking behaviors; Review.

The Ogden Senior Center is located at 200 South Union Street, Spencerport.
