Museum of Transportation celebrates “Railroad Day”

climb into the steam locomotiveThe New York Museum of Transportation celebrates the romance and history of American railroading on Sunday, August 12, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Museum volunteer “Gandy Dancers” will show the work they do to maintain the tracks. The century-old caboose from the Genesee & Wyoming Railroad will be open to visit. A classic velocipede will be on the line…can you make it go?

Hobos will tell tales from their days “riding the rods” across the country and there will be unlimited trolley rides on the only electric trolley operation in New York State.

Door prizes, train videos, and more are included.

No reservations are needed, and trolley rides are included in the admission price of $8 adults, $7 seniors age 65 +, and $6 youths age 3 to 12. Under age 3 are free.

The New York Museum of Transportation is located at 6393 East River Road, just 20 minutes from downtown Rochester and easily reached from Exit 11 off I-390.
