Yale Russian Chorus to perform at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

Greater Brockport Development Corporation

and St. Luke’s co-sponsor acclaimed chorus
The Greater Brockport Development Corporation (GBDC) and St. Luke’s Episcopal Church are co-sponsoring a concert by the Yale Russian Chorus, a tenor-bass acapella choral ensemble. St. Luke’s will be hosting the concert Monday, March 11, at 7 p.m., at 14 State Street, Brockport. A $5 per person donation at the door will benefit St. Luke’s and includes a reception hosted by the St. Luke’s Reception Team.

The GBDC/St. Luke’s sponsored concert is one in a series the Yale Russian Chorus will be performing throughout the Greater Rochester area.

The Chorus, acclaimed for its outstanding performances, including a recent performance at Kilbourne Hall, has been practicing musical diplomacy throughout the United States, Russia and countries of the former Soviet Union since it was founded in 1957 at the height of the Cold War. The group’s repertoire covers a span from the 12th to the 21st century, evoking spacious Orthodox cathedrals, the clamor of cities, remote village life, soldiers on the march, and the broad steppes. The music ranges from the mystical and contemplative to the lively and secular, and includes an audience-engaged explanation of the pieces performed.
