Rochester Recreation Festival coming to Spencerport next weekend

There is only one week until the area’s newest festival lands on Spencerport Firemen’s Field. Rochester Recreation Festival (ROC REC FEST), headed up by local resident Simon Devenish, will be held Saturday, September 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is free.

“The festival has become bigger than we had expected thanks to the generosity of many local businesses, artists, and community members. There will be a lot to see and do!” says Devenish. “I’m organizing this event in an effort to draw more people to the Village of Spencerport. This is especially important as our community and businesses struggle during the extended reconstruction of our historic lift bridge.”

All are invited to spend a day outdoors exploring fun ways to be more physically active. Among the opportunities offered in the festival’s Activity Zone, Roc Ventures is bringing out a climbing wall and strength trainers from Dunamis are running a fitness challenge and a yard sports zone. To boost festival spirit, several bands are donating their time to provide live entertainment.

Barton’s Parkside Hots will be there next to the community-run Food Tent.

An Olympic racing kayak, donated by a Spencerport resident, will be auctioned off. Proceeds from the auction will be donated back into the community
