Teens to perform “Dogfight: The Musical” at Fringe

OFC Creations is preparing for the first show of the 2019-2020 season, “Dogfight: The Musical,” running September 13 through 20 at the Lyric Theatre Cabaret Stage as part of the 2019 KeyBank Rochester Fringe Festival.

The show takes place on November 21, 1963, the eve of three Marines’ deployment to a small but growing conflict in Southeast Asia. The young Marines set out for one final boys’ night of partying and maybe a little trouble. When Corporal Eddie Birdlace meets Rose, an awkward and idealistic waitress whom he enlists to win a cruel bet with his fellow recruits, she rewrites the rules of the game and teaches him the power of love and compassion. “Dogfight: The Musical” includes memorable songs, an unexpected love affair, and a genuine and charming soul.

Student performers range from 11 to 18 years old and come from across the Greater Rochester area, including Pittsford, Greece, Spencerport, Hilton, Fairport, and School of the Arts. Many of the teens take voice lessons and acting classes with OFC throughout the year and participate in OFC’s summer camp program.

“Dogfight: The Musical” will be performed Friday, September 13 at 7 p.m.; Sunday, September 15 at 7 p.m.; and Friday, September 20 at 7 p.m. at the Lyric Theatre Cabaret Stage, 440 East Avenue, Rochester. Tickets are available at www.OFCCreations.com and at the door. Appropriate for ages 13 and up.
