Watercolor paintings on display at the Parma Public Library

Watercolor paintings by artist David J. Braun will be on display in the Parma Public Library Gallery through the month of September.

Born in Rochester, Braun now lives with his wife, Pamela, on Lake Ontario in Irondequoit. He has been painting since 1975 and is entirely self-taught. His love of painting began as a hobby while working as a mechanical designer at Gleason Works in Rochester.

His inspiration comes from the natural beauty of the four seasons in New York state, and recently, the interesting porches and windows of older homes in the area. Gardens, flowers, sailboats, waterfalls, and area barns have also found their way into his paintings. Braun approaches all of his subjects with an artist’s vision and a masterful hand. His watercolors are usually a combination of two techniques: the loose, wet-in-wet initial painting followed by a tighter, more controlled dry brush method.

Braun has taught Adult Ed classes and workshops in Fairport, Greece, and Irondequoit, and has had many one-person shows. He is a member of Suburban Rochester Art Group and displays his paintings at several galleries in New York State.
