Museum Mondays for seniors at The Strong®

The Strong National Museum of Play offers special educational opportunities for adults age 55 and older. Through Museum Mondays for Seniors, individuals and groups can receive discounted admission to the museum, along with a guided tour of one of The Strong’s exhibits or admission to Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden.

Discover the stories behind the iconic toys inducted into The Strong’s National Toy Hall of Fame on January 6, February 3, March 2, April 13, and May 4. Did you know that the Slinky was not originally supposed to be a toy? Why was Twister nearly pulled from production just before it became a national sensation? Find out the answers and other fun facts during a guided tour beginning at 11:30 a.m. through the Toy Halls of Fame exhibit. Explore the museum between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to learn more about other artifacts in The Strong’s collection.

Explore the museum’s exhibit spaces and Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden on January 13 and 27; February 10 and 24; March 9, 16, 23 and 30; April 20 and 27; and May 11 and 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Stroll through the museum’s butterfly garden – a lush, tropical environment featuring hundreds of brilliantly colored, free-flying butterflies – as you take part in nature play, a favorite pastime of museum founder Margaret Woodbury Strong. From March 13 through May 4, get up close to hundreds of flowers from around the world during Orchids in Bloom.

Tickets for Museum Mondays for Seniors are $10 and may be purchased online at https://www.museumofplay.org/visit/seniors or by calling Guest Information Services at 585-263-2700. These experiences are for adults age 55 and older. Photo ID is required at the time of the visit.
