Last year’s Cabin Fever/Winter Serenades were so popular that the Greater Brockport Development Corporation has scheduled two events for March 2020.  Both are at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, State and Main streets, on Sundays at 3 p.m. Concerts are free with no tickets needed. Donations to the Brockport Food Shelf are welcome but not required.  A reception follows each concert allowing participants to visit with friends and meet the musicians.

The first program, on March 1, is a special opportunity to hear and celebrate the church’s new pipe organ with a solo performance by esteemed organist Jacob Fuhrman. Fuhrman will introduce the audience to organ repertoire and play a wide variety of pieces by Bach, Schuman, Brahms and others.

Andrew Stoker and Friends return by popular demand on March 29 with more music written or arranged for the saxophone, performed with collaborating musicians Sharon Johnson (piano), Brenda Tremblay (organ), and the Kilbourn Saxophone Quartet.

Both performances will be family friendly, casual, and informative, lasting about an hour.

Looking ahead, GBDC is in the midst of planning a special tenth anniversary Summer Serenades season of Music on the Canal. Free Thursday evening performances will be held each week from July 9 through August 20. There will be new groups and Serenades favorites, again concluding the season with singer-songwriter Chris Wilson.

Why are these special events presented without an admission charge? Those in the GBDC believe that Brockport is a great place to live and they want residents to enjoy being part of this community. Many local donors contribute to make these concerts possible.
