Drake Ross Pettit, of Spencerport, passed away in 2012 at the age of four. Dreams from Drake is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit charitable organization that was founded in 2013 by members of Drake’s family.

The mission of Dreams from Drake is to provide local children and teens with the support needed to move forward while experiencing the confusion and grief associated with the loss of a sibling or parent. The foundation hopes to make an incredibly painful and challenging time more bearable by providing resources needed to ensure that these children go on to live healthy, happy, and productive lives.

Dreams From Drake offers a variety of services, including:

•Camp Dreams – Monroe County’s first bereavement camp for children and teens grieving the loss of a sibling or parent.

•Healing Circles of Hope – A monthly support group for children and teens, centered on a social activity, provides the opportunity to engage in healthy activities and helpful discussions about lost loved ones.

•Birthday Bonus – Children are given a birthday gift in memory of their lost loved one. All gifts are given with the intent to support the learning-to-heal process.

•Caring Card Club – Provides children and their families with a card to let them know that they’re always being thought of.

•Dreams From Drake Annual Birthday Bash – Sunday, June 2, 2020, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Total Sports Experience on Elmgrove Road in Rochester. The Birthday Bash provides all families with the opportunity to enjoy a day of “togetherness” regardless of socio-economic background. The event is free and open to the public. Dreams from Drake understands how important it is to enjoy life and family time because they experienced first hand how quickly this can change. This year’s Bash is the day after Drake turns 11 in Heaven. Although he can’t be here to celebrate, Dreams from Drake uses this occasion to celebrate his spirit. He loved parties, giving, being with friends and family, and doing fun things.

Other services available include Happy Hearts for the Holidays, The Next Page Program, and Let It All Out Club.
