Spencerport schools collect tabs for Ronald McDonald House

Emily and Elysa Sugar, students at Canal View Elementary School in Spencerport, show their family’s collected pop tabs which have been donated to a fundraising and awareness effort benefitting Ronald McDonald House.Spencerport students at Bernabi, Canal View and Munn Elementary Schools are collecting pop-tabs to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House Awareness Program.

Students and staff have delivered thousands of pop tabs to the Ronald McDonald House to recycle for funds. The Ronald McDonald House, provides a home-away-from-home for families during the medical treatment of their seriously ill children.

Pictured here are Canal View students and sisters, Emily and Elysa Sugar, third and second graders, respectively, with their family’s donation of pop tabs. In addition to their family donation, their father, Damian Sugar of Sugar’s Bike Shop in Spencerport, will match Canal View’s donation.

The collection drive is ongoing and folds into the district’s mission and strategic objective that each student will learn to participate continuously, respectfully and willingly in improving community well-being.
