Brockport falls to Medina

by Warren Kozireski

A young Brockport Blue Devils boys lacrosse team with just three seniors fell to Medina 17-6 at home.

Brockport opened the scoring with a man-up tally as Cody Johnson got the goal with assist from Nick King. Later in the first, Dylan Sharp found the net at 10:22 to give the Blue Devils a 2-1 first quarter lead.

But Medina scored four straight, including three in the first minute of the second quarter, before the Blue Devils answered. Josh Stiefel bounced a shot past the goalkeeper at 2:20 of the second quarter and freshman Chad Tobey pump-faked and scored at 5:16 to pull Brockport to within one at 5-4.

But the Mustangs shut down the Brockport offense and tallied seven unanswered goals to build a 12-4 third quarter lead.

Andy Reed sprinted 50 yards and scored for Brockport at 10:07 of the third and Stiefel netted his second goal of the contest late in the fourth quarter for the final offense for the Blue Devils, who earlier defeated Eastridge in overtime for their only win of the campaign.
