Lakeview Community Church issues “August Challenge”

Since 2009, the month of August has been an important time at Lakeview Community Church, 30 Long Pond Road, Rochester. It is time for their “August Challenge.”

During “August Challenge,” food is collected for the Grace Ecumenical Food Shelf. In previous years in the month of August, 130 boxes of cereal, 200 cans of tuna, 225 cans of peaches, and last year, 240 cans of soup were delivered. Each year, Lakeview Community Center has made a significant contribution to the Food Shelf.

The goal of this year’s “August Challenge” is to collect 500 pounds of peanut butter. Donations of peanut butter can be brought to Lakeview Community Church on any of the five Sundays in August at 10 a.m. The church will be open on Saturday, August 30, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for everyone to drop off a jar or two (or more) of peanut butter.
