Brockport Rotarians celebrate change of officers and presentation of awards

Brockport Rotarians and guests met at Pineway Ponds in Spencerport to celebrate the annual change of officers and presenting of awards. Outgoing president Brad Mitchell (left) and Membership Chair Gene Wood present a Paul Harris Fellowship to Doris Russo. The honor is in dedication to Rotary International’s (RI) founder and first president Paul Harris. A $1,000 contribution to the RI Foundation is presented in the Fellowship honoree’s name.  This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the RI Foundation, which has allowed for major club projects. Provided photo and information.

Brockport Rotarian President Brad Mitchell (right) presented Art Appleby a gift certificate for his many community endeavors, especially leading BISCO and the annual Brockport Arts Festival. Appleby just retired from a 15 year stint on the Village Planning Board, is an Olympics of the Mind internationally rated judge, has had a long standing involvement with scouts and many other good deeds to his credit. Former BISCO presidents Pat Baker and George Dahl spoke to Appleby’s many community efforts and his reputation as the consummate volunteer - always saying yes to a worthwhile cause.
