Final approval for Spencerport Rite Aid delayed

Members of the Ogden Planning Board have tabled final site plan approval for Phase 1 (Rite Aid portion) of the proposed Spencerport Mixed Use Center development due to new issues, which have arisen over public/private sanitary facilities.

During their regular meeting July 14, project manager Tim O’Brien told Planning Board members that developers are now requesting a septic system  for the Rite Aid store because of the cost of tying into the Village of Spencerport’s sanitary sewer.

Ogden Building Inspector Patrick Smith said the request was met with concerns by Planning Board members and both sides tried to come to an agreement July 14.

Smith said no agreement was reached at that time and the discussion/final site plan approval was tabled until a new plan can be considered.

Smith said the Planning Board would like to see a sewer installed at the site of the development – on the southeast corner of the Route 259/Route 31 intersection – so that when the project is ready to move to Phase II, a septic system could be abandoned. The development site includes 33.1 acres.

At the March 10 Planning Board meeting, the project received preliminary site plan approval and at that time, Tim O’Brien indicated the project would be serviced by public sanitary facilities.
