Meet and greet invites community to learn about Apple Fest volunteering

The 2016 Hilton Apple Fest Board of Directors will host a community meet and greet on Tuesday, August 23, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Apple Fest Office (Room 2B) second floor of the Village Community Center, 59 Henry Street. The meeting will introduce community members to various volunteering opportunities at the festival, which will take place Saturday and Sunday, October 1 and 2 this year.

The gathering serves as an opportunity for those interested in helping the Apple Fest to meet board and committee members as well as other interested community members. Attendees will be able to hear about what it takes to coordinate the festival, learn what areas are in need of an extra hand and ask any questions that might come to mind.

Those who can only help in small ways or for just a few hours during the festival are all welcome to attend – everyone is most appreciated, and refreshments will be served.

Some areas of opportunity include Corey’s Apple Pond, the apple pie and photo contests, setting up small attractions, working the information booth, and even the potential to join the board or work with a subcommittee to plan future festivals.

The Hilton Apple Fest, a nonprofit organization, is coordinated solely by volunteers from throughout the community. Each year there’s always a need for new volunteers to help with the various jobs that need to be done in order to have a successful event.
