The Ogden Police Department recently became re-accredited through the New York State Law Enforcement Accreditation Program (NYSPLEAP). This program sets minimum standards in 110 areas of police work, ranging from the use of force to record keeping to investigation practices.

A team of three assessors came to the Ogden Police Department in August and spent three days inspecting the department, the officers and their records. They verified that the department was in compliance with all standards, and they recommended for re-accreditation.  The Ogden Police Department has been continuously accredited since 1991, when they were the first agency of this size to obtain certification.

On September 8, Officer Travis Gray and Chief of Police Christopher Mears went to Albany to receive the Certificate of Accreditation.
