Funds raised for ACS during Churchville Luminaria Ceremony

In perfect weather, the fifth annual Churchville Luminaria Ceremony was held on Wednesday, July 31 immediately following the popular concert group, 8 Days A Week, a Beatles tribute band. The Luminaria ceremony was part of the Churchville Lions Club Relay For Life team effort and fundraising activity for the American Cancer Society. The luminaria bags were sold at the Village of Churchville Office both in honor of and in memory of loved ones lost to cancer. The bags were then decorated by members of the Churchville-Chili LEO Club and displayed after the concert. Those purchasing the luminaria bags were asked to take them home after the ceremony for additional remembrance of their loved ones. The Churchville Lions Club grill team cooked hots, burgers and sausage as additional fundraising and when all was done the total amount donated to the American Cancer Society was over $1,600. This event has proven to be an emotional and moving tribute to all our family and neighbors who have fought and continue to fight the scourge of cancer in our community and the Churchville Lions Club is grateful for the fantastic support.
