Heritage Day on August 17 offers fun activities for the whole family.

The fifth annual Heritage Day will be Saturday, August 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Spencerport Depot and Canal Museum, 16 East Avenue. Some of the day’s events include: music from The Uptown Groove and the Robert Dean Chorale, activities, demonstrations and a raffle. Many of the activities will center around the theme of the Erie Canal. This is a free family event thanks to support from the Genesee Valley Arts Council.

Only three weeks remain to submit photos for the museum’s Ogden Photo Contest. This year’s theme is Favorite Places in Ogden. First and second place prizes will be awarded in each of the four ages categories – Elementary (K-5), Middle School (6-8), High School (9-12), and Adult (age 18 and up). Submission instructions and complete contest rules are listed on the museum’s website, www.spencerportmuseum.org. Submissions are due on Saturday, August 31, and winners will be announced at an awards presentation on Saturday, September 28.

Both of these events are sponsored by the museum and are open to all. Visit www.spencerportmuseum.org for more information.
