Ross L. Gaylord

•Gaylord , Ross L., Holley,  age 78, died April 30, 2015.  He was born January 16, 1937 in the Town of Murray a son of the late Wendell and Mable (Kuhn) Gaylord.  Ross was very community oriented and began his career with the Village of Holley on July 6, 1961 as a volunteer member of the Holley Fire Department and held several positions including, Chief, Assistant Chief, Captain and was also a member of the Orleans County Fire Chief’s Association.  He was elected to the Village Board of Trustees in 1988, served 13 years as Trustee, including nine years as the Deputy Mayor, and served 9 years as a member on the Village of Holley Planning Board.  In 2013 Ross received a NYCOM Certificate of Public Service Award for 50 years of service as a dedicated public official.  He was also a Charter member of the Holley VFW post #202 Men’s Auxiliary, a member of the Holley American Legion post #529, Sons of the American Legion and was formerly active with Boy Scout Troop 24 for eight years.  Ross retired from Eastman Kodak Co. as a Printer.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Francis, Almond, Paul and Donald Gaylord; sisters, Eleanor Risner and Barbara Palermo.

He is survived by his life companion of 40 years, Alnita Jean D’Lallo; sons, Stephen (Kathleen) Gaylord, Scott (Janet) Gaylord; grandchildren, Brieann and Daniel Gaylord; great-grandson, Lucian Scott Allen; sisters, Arlene Mawn of Holley, Pat (Donald) Hoyt of OH., Sandra (James) O’Brien of Albion; sisters-in-law, Charlotte Gaylord and Donna Gaylord; several nieces, nephews, cousins; extended family, Linda (Ron) Foresha, Tony D’Lallo III, Michael (Anita) D’Lallo; grandchildren, Jeff, Missy, Dan, Amanda, Nicholas, Gabby Foresha, Alexander and Brianna D’Lallo.

The family will receive friends at the Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc. 16650 State Route 31, Holley, Thursday May 7, from 3:00-8:00, where Ross’s Memorial Service will be held Friday at 11:00am at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Holley Fire Dept. or the American Cancer Society.
