N. Chili: Passed away peacefully at The Cottages nursing home in Greece, N.Y., after a lengthy illness. She was 89 years old. Born in Rochester, Rosemary enjoyed gardening, traveling, and cooking. Plants and flowers and tending the gardens was a lifelong passion. She was a member of the North Chili Garden Club and a dedicated member of the altar guild at the Church of the Epiphany where she arranged Sunday flowers for nearly forty years.
A former girl scout troop leader, Rosemary was also active in local politics and served as a poll monitor in the 1960s and 1970s. For many years she managed the flower shops inside local Wegmans stores. Rosemary also enjoyed outdoor sports, especially skiing, swimming, and fishing. For several decades she managed the Frost Ridge ski area and campground in Leroy, NY, with her late husband John.
Rosemary is survived by two children, Sarah Michaels of North Chili, and Daniel Mattern, currently of Islamabad, Pakistan, a son-in-law, Martin Michaels, two grandchildren, Ashley (Ryan) Michaels Distaffen and Shannon Michaels, and one great granddaughter, Madison Rose Distaffen; her faithful companion Holley; also a niece & nephew.
