Hilton CSD Board of Education adopts $74.7 M budget proposal schools for 2014-15 – public vote May 20

At its regular meeting April 8, the Hilton Central School District Board of Education adopted a $74.7 million budget proposal for the 2014-15 school year, a 3.34 percent increase over last year’s budget resulting in an estimated zero percent tax rate increase in all district towns.

“The 2014-15 proposed budget includes a zero percent increase in the property tax rate and continues to support the high quality education we provide for our students,” said Superintendent David Dimbleby. “If the proposed budget is approved  by district voters, property owners also will be eligible for the state property tax rebate in the fall.”

The adopted budget qualifies Hilton School District residents for a property tax rebate because it is under the state imposed tax cap. For most property owners, this will be about one and a half percent of their property taxes, averaging about $25 for a $100,000 home. For residents with an assessment increase, the rebate will be the increase in property taxes due to the new assessment.

Details of the budget will be available on the Hilton District website at www.hilton.k12.ny.us/budget-profile.htm.

District residents can vote on the budget proposition as well as a $977,190 bus purchase proposition, a proposition to establish a $2 M capital reserve fund, and two open positions on the Board of Education Tuesday, May 20. The three-year terms of Agnes Seneway and Timothy Gagnon are expiring.

Polls located at Hilton High School (Parma, Clarkson and Hamlin residents) and Northwood Elementary (Greece residents) will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Voters must be a registered voter with Monroe County Board of Elections to vote on May 20 or registered with District Clerk Pat Unterborn (585) 392-1000, ext. 7099. Handicapped accessible parking is available.
