Scientists visit Quest Elementary for Science Fun Day

Over 98 presentations by local science professionals, parents whose profession involve science, high school students, teachers and Quest students made up this year’s highly successful Science Fun Day at Quest Elementary School on June 6. Coordinated by Quest teachers Loni Butlin and Heidi Reese, the day is dedicated to learning science in a hands-on and interesting way. Students travel around the school building, the nearby creek and outdoor classroom to learn about science in our everyday lives.

This year, new demonstrations included: glass blowing by Arc and Flame Center, exotic animals courtesy of Little Ark Farm, Hilton Fire Department – the science behind fire fighting, Monroe County Sheriff’s Department K-9 Unit and others.

The day was divided into six 35-minute sessions and each session had numerous presentations and a hands-on activity for the students.
