C-C 7th grade band members give the gift of shoes

This holiday season there will be 344 happy children in Central America who will have new shoes, thanks to the hard work, talents and generosity of Churchville-Chili teacher Shelley Sadler’s 7th Grade Band members. “This is the band’s second year participating in the “Christmas Shoe Practice-A-Thon” event,” she says. “Students promised to increase their practice times if sponsors would make donations for the Christmas Shoes Project. This year, in just two weeks, with the generous help of families and community,  band members practiced 20,100 minutes and raised over $1,238.”

The durable, water-resistant shoes purchased with the funds are delivered to children living in poverty in Central America. Often this is the first pair of shoes these children have ever owned. These can be a life-changing gift, taking on more meaning as they come directly from the efforts of other children a world away.

The 7th Grade Band will be performing a holiday concert on Wednesday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the C-C PAC theatre. The community is invited to join them and to hear the results of all their hard work.
