Mathletes give their brains a work-out at All-Star meet

Bport MathletesBrockport High School’s Mathletes, the competitive math team, placed second in their division at the St. John Fisher College All-Star meet on March 3.

Mathletes is part of the Monroe County Math League (MCML) and the NYS Math League. Teams compete monthly within their division against various schools. Divisions are determined by both school size and past scores. This year, Brockport is part of the Euclid Division, comprised of 14 high schools from our area.

On average, Brockport High School sends 40-60 students between 9th and 12 grade to each monthly meet. Based on monthly scores and difficulty of questions, coaches then choose the top 15 students to go to the yearly All-Star Meet, which was at St. John Fisher on Tuesday, March 3. Participation is voluntary.

This year’s participating team included:Carolina Andriuta, Shaye Bartnick, Brytton Burnside, Michael Butenhof, Danielle Falkenstein, Brian Liebe, Matt Lewis, Eric Lucas, Alyssa Mahagen, Austin Mann, Karl McNulty, Jeremy Robinson, Neil Singh, Anthony Tintera,  and Connor Wiest plus our coaches: Jane Bowdler and Kathie Lawrenz.

​MVP for the year was Brian Liebe. Top scorers at the All-Star Meet were Anthony Tintera and Karl McNulty.
