C-C student photographer chosen for summer internship

Student photographer Abby Gutowski will be spending a portion of her summer documenting day-to-day activities at Writers & Books’ SummerWrite youth workshops. The Churchville-Chili High School sophomore was chosen for the photography internship, usually reserved for college students, on the basis of her impressive resume, presentation and portfolio.

SummerWrite is a nine-week program that offers over 70 camps for young people, ages 5-18, focusing on the art of reading and writing. As the program photographer, Gutowski will work for several hours, twice a week, from June 29 to August 28. Her photos will be used on social media and in a variety of marketing communications. Gutowski is excited about the opportunity. “I’m particularly interested in pursuing a career in photojournalism. This is a chance to learn and get experience, while I am doing what I love.”

Gutowski’s work has been shown recently at Image City Photography Gallery’s “Through the Student Lens” photography show, and at the 2015 Rochester-Finger Lakes Middle & High School Art Exhibition, hosted by RIT at the Bevier Gallery in February.
