Hilton CSD Superintendent announces retirement

Hilton Superintendent of Schools David Dimbleby has announced his plan to retire from the district on December 31, 2015. Dimbleby was appointed superintendent on July 1, 2005 and has spent more than 30 years working in the district.

“As the superintendent of Hilton, I have had the privilege and good fortune to work with a progressive and supportive Board of Education, a high quality, student-centered administrative team, and a dedicated, collaborative group of teachers and staff who place the interests of students above their own,” said Dimbleby. “My experiences in this district for the past 30 years as a teacher and administrator have been exceptional.”

“During Dave’s tenure as superintendent, the Hilton community has become a destination district for many families,” said School Board President Daniel Wellington. “Now Dave has decided to retire and begin the next phase of his life journey. While we are sad, and will surely miss him, we are also excited and happy for Dave and his family. From all of us in the Hilton School District community, we wish him all the best and thank him for creating the environment that defines ‘The Hilton Way.’”

Wellington also recognized Dimbleby for his leadership in achieving district goals including: becoming the first school district in New York State in which all students participate in the International Baccalaureate Programme (IB), maintaining excellent financial responsibility to the community by having the lowest cost per pupil of any district in Monroe County and being nominated by district employees as a Rochester Top Workplace the past two years.

Prior to becoming superintendent, Dimbleby served as principal of Hilton High School (1999-2005), principal of Quest Elementary School and West Avenue Primary School (1994-1999); assistant principal in the Churchville-Chili School District; and special education teacher in the Hilton School District at Merton Williams Middle School. He was honored by his colleagues in Hilton by being named “Teacher of the Year” in 1995.

The Hilton School Board has appointed Monroe 2 – Orleans BOCES District Superintendent Jo Anne L. Antonacci as search consultant. A timeline for the search for a new superintendent will be forthcoming from District Superintendent Antonacci with the intention to have a new superintendent in place on January 1, 2016.
