Students take the ice cream challenge

Seventh graders at Merton Williams Middle School in Hilton recently learned how challenging it is to do daily tasks with one arm or leg. They ate ice cream with their non-dominant hand, buttoned a shirt and tied a shoe with one hand, picked up and carried items on one foot, among other activities. The exercise was part of a larger Community and Service Learning Activity involving the whole school.

Eighth graders did a walkathon for LIMBS International to give amputees around the world a second chance at life by providing them with a LIMBS leg system. Students and staff are hoping to raise $900 in order to provide three people with new legs.
