Community invited to Brockport CSD homecoming celebration

Floats, music and excitement will fill the campus of Brockport Central School District in honor of homecoming September 23.

The fun kicks off at 5 p.m. with the second annual homecoming festival, featuring food trucks and a carnival hosted by Brockport Student Council. Organizers were overwhelmed with the success of the festival last year and hope to increase attendance even more this year. There will also be a silent auction.

The homecoming parade will begin at 6 p.m., making its way from A.D. Oliver Middle School to the Dahn Walrath Stadium, where the varsity football game will commence against Greece Athena at 7:30 p.m.

Each high school class will decorate a float according to this year’s theme: seasons. Freshmen will represent spring, sophomores will depict summer, juniors will portray winter and seniors will illustrate fall. The winning class will be announced during half-time of the football game.

In addition to the bands, clubs and sports teams that will march in the parade, alumni and other community members will also participate.

“I’m really looking forward to being a part of Brockport’s homecoming this year,” said Brockport High School Principal Dr. Brian Weller. “There is such a sense of pride in the district and the community; celebrating with our students and families just enhances everything that is great about our schools. There is so much happening during the week and many opportunities for students to be involved. It is a terrific way for them to build memories that will last a lifetime. Go Blue Devils!”

For anyone who would like to enter a float or become a parade sponsor, visit the school web page at www.bcs1.org/homecoming to print a form. Registrations are due by September 16.

Parking will be available throughout the village and on the district campus. Don’t forget to show school pride by wearing blue and white. For information, contact Assistant Principal Mike Bourne at 637-1870 orMichael.bourne@bcs1.org.
