The Hilton Board of Education appointed Maryanne Chaffee to fulfill the unexpired term of Aggie Seneway, who resigned due to health reasons. Chaffee’s term will end on June 30, 2017. She will have the option of running for a three-year term during the Board of Education election on May 16.

Chaffee and her husband, Glenn, have been residents of the Hilton School District for the past 14 years and have one son, Robert, who attends Merton Williams Middle School.

Over the years, Chaffee has served as a parent classroom volunteer and as president of the VEPTO parent-teacher organization at Northwood Elementary School. “My time serving in VEPTO afforded me the opportunity to work with administrators, staff and various departments within the Hilton School District,” she said. “It has been by far the most rewarding volunteer work I’ve ever done.”

Chaffee also served on the Northwood Elementary School assistant principal and district superintendent selection committees. In the community, she has taught religious education at St. Mark’s Church and volunteered with Cub Scout Pack 278 and Boy Scout Troop 18.

Over the past seven years, Chaffee has owned and operated Mac Services, a residential and commercial cleaning company.

“On behalf of the Board, we welcome Maryanne to a team dedicated to our students and public education,” said President Nancy Pickering. “Maryanne brings a range of experience and expertise to the board that will complement the work that we do on behalf of the district. We look forward to working with her.”

At its January 24 meeting, the Board of Education recognized Aggie Seneway for serving as a trustee for the past 15 years, and for her passion and dedication to providing the best education for Hilton students.
