Three Spencerport CSD leaders announce plans to retire

Three longtime leaders in the Spencerport Central School District – John Pelin, Linda Howell and Dr. Monica Macaluso – have announced their plans to retire, effective June 30, 2019.

John Pelin has served as the district’s director of physical education, health and athletics for 30 years. “(Serving as athletic director) has been a tremendous honor and privilege,” Pelin said. “I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to lead our fantastic teams and student athletes as well as work with and alongside our incredible support staff, teachers, coaches and administrators.”

Pelin indicated his decision to retire simply “felt like the right time,” and added, “I am very proud to be able to retire as a Spencerport Ranger.”

Linda Howell has been the coordinator of student information services for 26 years. A graduate of Spencerport High School, Howell said in her letter, “I have enjoyed my career here at Spencerport and have fond memories as both a 1972 graduate and an employee.” Then added, “Working with the administrative team has been a wonderful growth experience. I have observed first-hand the tremendous opportunities the district offers its students.”

Dr. Monica Macaluso has served as principal of Terry Taylor Elementary School for 15 years. She said, “My 15 years at Spencerport have been challenging, rewarding, and memorable. I’m a stronger educator and a better human being because of the people and experiences I’ve encountered here!”
