Hilton CSD hosts “School Safety in the Age of Social Media”

The Hilton Central School District will be hosting a community event, “School Safety in the Age of Social Media” on Monday, April 8 at 7 p.m. in the Hilton High School Auditorium, 400 East Avenue, Hilton. Technology continually changes the ways we share and consume information. This presentation will include developing a personal media code of ethics that can better help individuals evaluate information during a stressful or crisis situation, and explain how information shared on social media may impact the district’s response to real and perceived threats. The district’s Threat Assessment procedures will also be reviewed.

Presenters include Dr. Andrea Hickerson, Director of the School of Communication at Rochester Institute of Technology, representatives from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and David Inzana, Hilton School District Director of Safety and Security. The program will conclude with Dr. Casey Kosiorek, Superintendent of Schools, joining the presenters to take questions from the audience.
