Brockport High School starts the district’s first podcast

Brockport High School students, with the help of librarian Kathy Jaccarino and teacher Kerry Grant, recently launched the district’s first on-demand podcast.

The podcast, titled “BHS Your Voice NOW,” will feature two podcasts each month. The first will explore the topic of “who are you?” with featured guests. The second will highlight something happening in the community.

Topics to be addressed in the podcast include: meeting new administrators, discussing the search for a district superintendent, meeting students enrolled in the Urban Suburban Program and discussing the importance of local politics.

The idea of the campus podcast started at a coffee house last year during a conversation between Jaccarino and a student, looking for a medium to have an open conversation on a range of topics. When Jaccarino overheard Grant discussing a storytelling project she was developing, she asked to join forces. The pair assembled a group of students and got to work.

After each episode is taped and edited, it will be posted to the Brockport High School website and the library’s website for all to enjoy.
