Ryan nets eight for Cadets

Senior Rachel Ryan scored eight goals – all but one unassisted – to lead Hilton to a 13-4 girls’ lacrosse victory over the Greece Lightning.

The Lightning scored the first goal of the game and led 3-2 after the first eight minutes of the contest, but were shutout for the next 40-plus minutes and held to just one more goal the rest of the way by goaltender Shaina Doser and a defense led by seniors Kaycie Malyk and Chloe Wormsley with junior Josephine Ban and LeeAnna Bianchi.

Amanda Hilderbrandt tied the game 3-3 with an unassisted drive to the net at 8:27 before Ryan scored four consecutive goals during the remainder of the first half.
Ryan opened the second half with an underhand shot at 7:21. Lauryn Simmons made it 9-3 off a pass from Payton Cook and Ryan followed 59 seconds later with her seventh of the contest.

Dalle Carrighan and Hilderbrandt scored 1:07 apart to make it 12-3 before Ryan finished with her eighth of the game with three minutes remaining.

Doser, an eighth-grader – made ten saves in the Hilton net with many from point-blank range.
