Brockport routs Lancers

Tori Lammes and Erika Ruggieri each scored five goals while Jasmyn Jessmer had an eight-point game to lead the Blue Devils to a 21-9 win over visiting Eastridge in girls’ lacrosse in 30 degree weather. The victory was the Blue Devils’ tenth consecutive over Eastridge.

Brockport opened up a 3-0 lead over the first 89 seconds as Emma Moulton won the draw at midfield and started the attack.

Moulton scored the first with an assist from Jessmer 29 seconds into the contest. Lammes came out from behind the net to score the second 1:08 in and Ruggieri netted her first off a low shot 21 seconds later.

After the Lancers closed to within 4-2, the Blue Devils closed out the first half scoring nine of the ten goals to take a 13-3 lead. Jessmer scored three of those while assisting on two others, Lammes found the back of the net three times in the rally while senior Tori Penders took an inside pass from Ruggieri and found the upper left corner of the net.

Eastridge scored the first three goals of the second half, but managed just three more the rest of the way.

Penders completed her hat trick, Ruggieri scored three times, leading scorer Leah Daly came off the bench to net two goals with two assists and Christina Middleton scored her only goal of the game as the Blue Devils scored four consecutive goals over the final eight minutes to improve their record to 5-2.

Sophomore goaltender Gabby LoGuidice made seven saves in the net to pick up the win.

Jessmer, reportedly heading to Roberts Wesleyan this fall, now has 88 career points with nine games remaining in the regular season to reach the coveted century mark.
