Lambert, Yockel double-doubles lead Bees to first win

Byron-Bergen jumped out to a 19-0 lead over the first five minutes of the game and never looks back as they doubled up Destiny Christian 89-44 in boys’ basketball.

Junior Chad Green scored five points and senior Joshua Hohn added consecutive three-pointers to stake Byron-Bergen to a 13-0 advantage before junior Bryce Yockel hit on his drive to the basket, Travis Lambert had a put-back and Alexander Brumsted a breakaway lay-up to extend the lead to 19-0.

Alexander Heatherman later knocked down a corner jumper and the Bees led 22-8 after the first quarter.

Brumsted added ten second quarter points and Hohn had a trey and field goal while Rick Hubbard and Daren Barron hit their attempts as the Bees led 46-20 at halftime.

Yockel opened the second half by hitting a pair of three-points and adding a steal to open up a 32-point advantage while Lambert scored on a put-back and lay-up later in the quarter.

Anthony DiQuattro scored four of his seven points in the fourth quarter while Yockel added six more to his total as the Bees ran out the final eight minutes.

Lambert finished with ten points and 11 rebounds while Yockel had a game-high 20 points with ten steals and five rebounds as both registered double-doubles. Hohn had 17 points and Barron 12 while Brumsted gave the Bees five players scoring in double-figures with ten points, eight rebounds and four steals. Green finished with nine points for the 1-2 Bees.
