Morgan double-double leads Hawks

Junior Kohl Morgan scored a career-high 25 points and added 11 rebounds as Holley doubled up visiting Lima Christian 75-31 in boy’s basketball.

The Hawks shut out the Saints in the first quarter and didn’t allow the first points until more than 12 minutes into the contest. Meanwhile they were building a 15-0 first quarter advantage as senior John Mounts hit on a pair of first quarter drives and Morgan knocked down two jump shots and a lay-up along with the first of four treys by junior Cody Tanis.

Senior Matt Skehan opened the second quarter with a three-pointer before classmate Matt Wilson hit three consecutive baskets with a free throw to extend the Hawks lead to 25-0.

Junior Nick Kinmond hit a bank-shot and Morgan added a pair of field goals later in the first half as the Hawks led 31-11 after 16 minutes.

Morgan added four more baskets in the third quarter with Mounts chipping in with one and Tanis two more treys as the lead held at 29 points after three quarters.

Wilson scored six of his 16 points in the fourth quarter while Skehan also finished in double-digits with ten points thanks to a trey and put-back over the final minutes.

Morgan added six steals and four assists to his other stats with Wilson contributing four of the Hawks 15 team steals and dishing out a team-best five assists. Tanis scored 12 points while Mounts added six points for the 2-3 Hawks.
