Parker gives Saints OT win

Senior Seamus Parker knocked in a rebound 27 seconds into overtime to launch Churchville-Chili to a 3-2 win over Brockport in the final league match prior to the Section V hockey playoffs.

The Saints jumped out to a 1-0 lead as sophomore Mitchell Marsh swatted home the rebound of a Cade Costanzo shot at 9:45 of the second period. Senior Chris Burchfield also assisted on the play.

Brockport scored the next two as junior Michael Holding found sophomore Jeremiah Rausch with a pass from behind the net to tie the game 1-1. Senior Matthew Heyden also received an assist on the goal.

At 2:59 of the third, Heyden gave the Blue Devils a 2-1 lead scoring on a rebound with freshman Evan Bovee and junior Damian Gamble receiving assists.

The Saints tied the game 2-2 with a shorthanded goal by senior Matt Kotsch off a rebound from a Brandon Clark shot. Churchville-Chili later killed a late Brockport power play to force overtime.

Kotsch and sophomore Nick Bowen then set up Parker’s game-winner on the first shift of overtime to give the Saints the fifth seed in Class B and a first round playoff game against fourth-seed Irondequoit.

Saints sophomore goaltender Ethan Breton made 20 saves giving him 967 in his career, 33 shy of 1,000 in his high school career.

Brockport senior goaltender Liam Schriener made 35 saves and finished the regular season with 488 in 12 games.
