Four Saints net hat tricks in boys lacrosse

Seniors Will Zimmerman, Eli Chalmers and Austin Muscianese plus freshman Brett Seaman each scored three or more goals as Churchville-Chili trounced Gates Chili 20-6 in boy’s lacrosse.

The Saints raced out to a 6-2 lead after the first ten minutes of the contest with Chalmers finding the back of the net three times and assisting on the first of two tallies from Muscianese. Sophomore Patrick Mitchell added one goal and one assist.

They extended that lead to 11-4 by halftime as Zimmerman scored three times in the second quarter while Muscianese completed his hat trick just eight seconds into the stanza and Chalmers added his fourth.

The Saints allowed only one goal in both the third and fourth quarters and Chalmers padded his game totals with three more goals and two additional assists while Seaman tallied twice. Senior Braeden Schmidt and junior Austin Beckingham netted goals both with assists from Chalmers.

Seaman finished his hat trick off in the final quarter while sophomore Grant Cody scored the final goal of the game.

Defensively, sophomore goalie Mitch Marsh was credited with 15 saves in net to earn the Saints fifth win of the campaign. Mitchell led the Saints with nine ground balls; Chalmers and sophomore defense Joe Gibson each added five.

Chalmers finished with seven goals and six assists and, through the first 12 games this season, leads all of Section V in goals with 44 and points with 78 while standing third in assists with 34. Senior midfielder Brandon Clark was top-ten in takeaways.

The final home game of the regular season and senior day for the Saints is May 14.
