Galante, Boyatzies pace Cadets lax

Senior attack Michael Galante registered a first half hat trick and junior Zachery Boyatzies did the same in the second half to a 12-3 boys lacrosse win over Williamsville East at LeBeau Field.

The Cadets scored twice in the opening three minutes as senior Ryan Butts scored low from ten yards out before senior Tyler Hacker found the upper right corner. Sophomore Matthew Mojsej made it 3-0 Hilton with his goal from 12 yards out at 9:05 and Galante netted his first off a pass from junior Ben Mitrano with eight seconds remaining in the first quarter.

Hacker scored from senior Justin Mosher in between two Flames tallies to make it 5-2 Cadets and Galante scored twice over the final 4:13 of the first half – the first on a pass from senior Shawn Doran and the second after a Hacker feed.

Williamsville East opened the second half scoring in the first minute, but it would prove to be the only offense they would generate the rest of the way as Hilton’s defense and senior goalie Jacob Kelsey locked down their own end.

Boyatzies converted a pass from senior Brenden Howell for his first goal of the contest at 1:39 of the third quarter and netted an unassisted goal four minutes later to extend the Cadets lead to 9-3. Howell found the net following a feed from Mitrano at 6:52 and Boyatzies completed his hat trick with an assist from Mosher at 7:55 of the third.

Senior Ryan Danzig completed the scoring with the only goal of the entire fourth quarter.

Kelsey was credited with seven saves while Doran was dominant winning 17 face-offs.

The 11-4 Cadets honored 17 seniors prior to their final regular season home game: Justin Tahara, Samuel Messura, Brenden Howell, Sammy DePrez, Shawn Doran, Jacob Kelsey, Ryan Butts, Tyler Hacker, Ethan Mann, Mitchell Buckert, William Czebatol, Michael Galante, Justin Mosher, Ryan McNair, Connor Maksymciw, Ryan Danzig and Dylan D’Aloisio.
