Tennis star Novak Djokovic wins July 2019 Hickok Belt® Award

Tennis star Novak Djokovic has been named the Hickok Belt® Award winner for the month of July 2019. Voting was conducted by a select panel of members of the National Sports Media Association (NSMA). The voters selected Djokovic for his win of the Wimbledon 2019 title, beating Roger Federer in a closely fought match (7-6, 1-6, 7-6, 4-6, 13-12). The record-breaking match lasted four hours and 57 minutes and was watched by millions of fans worldwide. The victory earned Novak Djokovic his fifth Wimbledon title, and his sixteenth Grand Slam title.

Other finalists for the month of July in order of how the NSMA ranked them included: Megan Rapinoe (soccer), Caleb Dressel (swimming), Simona Halep (tennis), Shane Lowery (golf), Stephen Strasburg (baseball), Hima Das (track & field), Yuli Gurriel (baseball), Lewis Hamilton (auto racing) and Jin Young Ko (golf).

His selection as the Hickok Belt® Award winner for the month of July 2019 recognizes Novak Djokovic as “the best of the best” in professional sports for the month and makes him the seventh candidate eligible to receive the overall Hickok Belt® Award for 2019, joining Kawhi Leonard, Brooks Koepka, Tiger Woods, Kyle Busch, Julian Edelman and Tom Brady.
