Patanella earns top honors at national archery tournament

Select members of the Alfred State Archery Team traveled to Lancaster, PA, over the past weekend to compete in the Lancaster Classic, an internationally attended major archery event.

A new component of the event was a national collegiate tournament featuring archers from across the country. Alfred State archers took two top honors, netting first-place finishes in both the men’s open and men’s hunter categories.

Senior archer Jacob Patanella, from Churchville, a mechanical engineering technology major, rose to the top of the collegiate hunter division. Patanella, no stranger to podium finishes, charged forward with just four ends remaining to erase a six-point deficit and claim the title.

The two archers and the rest of the Alfred State Archery Team will be back in Lancaster next month to compete in the USA Archery Indoor National Championships.
