This year marks the 33rd Hilton Apple Fest Auto Show

Start your engines! It’s time for the 2013 Hilton Apple Fest Auto Show on Saturday, October 5 at the Village Elementary School in Hilton. Classic cars, muscle cars, street rods, antique cars, street machines, even sports cars are just a few of the classes of vehicles you’ll find during this annual event. This year’s show features 30 different entry classes and will celebrate 60 years of the Corvette. Four different special awards will be presented for Club Participation, Hilton Mayor’s Choice, Parma Town Supervisor’s Choice and Best Corvette of Show. First, second and third place plaques will be awarded for each class.
Interested in registering your prized set of wheels? Registration costs $14 the day of the show. Vendor spaces are also available for $25. Goodie bags and dash plaques will be presented to the first 500 entries.
Over the years, this event has grown immensely. Since 1993, the entries have increased over 100 percent.
“We had 650 vehicles in last year’s show, an increase of 100 cars from the 2011 show,” explained Mike Ahl, chairperson of the Auto Show. He attributes this increase to a heightened interest in cars.
“More people are interested in this type of hobby, modifying cars and more people know about the Hilton Apple Fest Auto Show,” Ahl said. “Due to the increase in last year’s show, we’ve adjusted and expanded the field for this year’s show to accommodate more vehicles and larger crowds.”
Ahl enjoys volunteering his time on behalf of the Apple Fest. It’s a task he’s happy to have done for over 20 years. Over the years, the Car Show has donated to the Hilton Food Shelf, the Hilton Fire Department, the Hilton Ambulance and the Vietnam Veteran’s Chapter 20.
“It’s great to raise money for so many organizations and to give back to our community,” Ahl said.
New to the car show this year will be a dinner offered by Hilton Masons. The Clio Lodge No. 779 will offer chicken barbeque dinners during the car show for $9 per meal.
